Painting a mountain landscape stretched and challenged me on many levels. Working with acrylic paint and a canvas this large (20" x 40") i learnt a lot. Acrylic paint drys quickly and until i was able to purchase a OPEN acrylic medium i found it was just a battle to blend my colours. I painted the sky at least four times! (I see i am missing a photo of the completely blue sky; lol) Wanting to emphasize the ruggedness of Mount Fisher and surrounding mountains i worked with a pallet knife (a relatively new experience on this scale!)
Almost thought we were going to get away without any snow and then BAM! Old Man Winter put on his overcoat and dumped 10 inches in our neightbourhood. Winter can be depressing ..... my medicine ..... paint something whimsical .....
