Haven't touched this painting in a few days ..... time to reflect and decide if it's done. Been a great journey exploring a few different techniques with sponges and colour. Happy with the results!
Preparing for fall exhibition at Pynelogs Art Gallery and Cultural Centre in Invermere, British Columbia this is a work in progress on a Autumn landscape painting. The first 2 paintings are a quick study on a 9" x 11" canvas. Expressing my love of Autumn and it's rich colours I am now working on a 2' x 3' Gallery Wrapped Canvas. Loosely sketching out my drawing the first layers of colours are mostly complimentary colours. For the background I used organic sponges to layer in the colours. To create the leaves in the foreground i tried several different brushes as well as a palette knife. Dabbing the paint on with a No. 2 Robert Simmons brush gave the results i was looking for! ....... more update to come!
